New York wants Amazon to reconsider its campus plan.

Amazon has been asked to reconsider the decision to scrap its campus plan by New York business, political and community leaders.

The campaign came just after a week when Amazon decided to scrap its campus plan in Long Island City in New York stating some opposition from the locals. A $2.5Bn project was pledged by Amazon for its hub, which would create about 25000 jobs for the people. For this, Amazon was offered almost $3Bn tax breaks (Government offering reduction in tax) and other benefits by the city and state Government.

This gave a chance for some people to oppose even though it was backed by the Governor and the Mayor. A poll was taken for this decision which said that the majority of people were in favor of the project.

The New York Times published a letter on Friday from a group saying that a majority of people in New York were in support of this project and has been disappointed by the decision to scrap the campus plan.

The list of people who signed the letter included heads of Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Mastercard and JetBlue Airways. Also local leaders and heads of Tennant Association and the president of NAACP New York State Conference.

From an anonymous source, the New York Times reported that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has called Amazon boss Jeff Bezos to try to change his mind about scrapping the campus plan.

Later the Newspaper reported that Amazon has not shown any sign to re-open any conversation regarding the decision to cancel the campus plan.

This has started a debate about corporate subsidies and concerns about how Amazon's decision would the rent of the area.

In addition to Amazon's decision to cancel its campus plan in Long Island City in New York, Amazon has also scaled back its expansion plan in its hometown Seattle.
