India announces retaliatory trade tariffs against the US

Tariffs will be imposed on 28 US products from 28th June 2019 including Almonds and Apples, says India.

Due to Washington's refusal to exempt Delhi from taxes on aluminum and steel imports, Delhi has risen the duties on 28 US products up to 70%. President Donald Trump announced earlier this month that the US will withdraw India's preferential trade treatment.

In June last year, trade talks delayed the implementation of the tariffs which were supposed to go up to 120%, said India. The decision was made in the public interest says India's Finance Minister on Friday. Artemia, a type of shrimp, was added to the list, making it 29th in the list, but was later removed from the list.
In 2018, US-India bilateral trade ( exchange of goods between two nations for promoting investment and trade) was worth $142bn, seven times more than it was in 2001, according to research in the US.

The move is the latest push by President Donald Trump's administration to redress what it considers to be unfair trading relationships with other nations. Tension has since risen between the two nations.
Last year when the US increased tariffs on aluminum and steel, India retaliated by increasing its own import duties on the US products.
President Trump has also warned India to impose sanctions if India purchases oil from Iran and if they continue to go ahead with their plans to buy S-400 anti-aircraft Russian missiles.

Panasonic examines relationship with Huawei.

Panasonic, a Japanese company said that it is examining whether any of its products are breaking the US restrictions on trading with Huawei. The market will slide if Panasonic joins the list of firms walking away from Huawei. Panasonic is planning to join Google, Intel, and Qualcomm after the US banning Huawei, which might be the beginning of tech cold war.

last week, Huawei's name was added on the list of companies with which the US cannot do trade until they have a trade license. The restriction has escalated the ban of Huawei in the US, which they say will lead to security risk. Panasonic's statement was confusing when it said that they have suspended business with Huawei. They also said that they will join the growing list of companies to cut ties with Huawei by announcing that they will stop supplying some components to the Chinese technology conglomerate after the US banned Huawei for security risks and threat. But Panasonic said that they will continue their business operations with Huawei in which they are not breaching any US regulations.

The decision by the Japanese firm has crashed shares of Asia Pacific, and four major Japanese and British mobile carrier company said that they would delay releasing new Huawei phones. Trump administration, last week added Huawei the worlds second largest smartphone maker to its entity list, which bans Huawei from getting technology from US firms without Government approval.

Google, on the other hand, has stopped Huawei from getting any updates to their Android operating system. Which mean that Huawei's new phones will not be getting the latest updated Google apps.
For months, the US and China have been struggling for power, where Huawei has been the epicenter of it. Because of the law from the US, Huawei is facing a huge backlash from the Western countries for a possible risk caused by using its product in the next generation 5G mobile networks.

The US argues that the Chinese Government might use Huawei's product for surveillance, whereas Huawei denies such allegation stating that Huawei is independent of the Chinese Government.

Jacinda Ardern, a leader with full love and support on display.

Just like every Friday, people had gathered in a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand, to offer the Friday prayer (also known as Salat-Al-Juma) when minutes later an Australian young man walked up to the door and started shooting with his assault rifle.

The Gunman was welcomed by an old man, even when the Gunman had the gun in his hand when he walked up to the mosque's door.
The pain of the drastic massacre has echoed not only in New Zealand but also all over the world. And because of social media being so common in this world, everybody was able to see the live footage which the self-titled white supremacist who killed 50 people in the mosque has recorded by going live on a social media app.

Brendan Tarrant a terrorist from Australia killed people who were from Jordan, Egypt, Somalia, Pakistan, and India. So when Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern gave a statement hours later after the attack, it was not only New Zealand who was listening to her but also other countries around the World. She said, " It is clear that this can now only be described as a terrorist attack". Being very swift and convincing, Ms. Ardern described Tarrant as a "terrorist". She proved wrong to the people who think that government officials would never call a white person terrorist even if the attack was politically motivated. She later comforted the victims of Christchurch, as simple as wearing a black scarf, as to show respect, she said that "they are us", and later after a few days, in the parliament, she made a bold and small statement starting with the Islamic greeting "as salaam alaikum".

A few hours after the attack, Ms. Ardern said that the Government will strictly change the country's lax gun law "within 10 days".
Ever since her first statement after the attack, the entire world is praising her for her leadership.

New York wants Amazon to reconsider its campus plan.

Amazon has been asked to reconsider the decision to scrap its campus plan by New York business, political and community leaders.

The campaign came just after a week when Amazon decided to scrap its campus plan in Long Island City in New York stating some opposition from the locals. A $2.5Bn project was pledged by Amazon for its hub, which would create about 25000 jobs for the people. For this, Amazon was offered almost $3Bn tax breaks (Government offering reduction in tax) and other benefits by the city and state Government.

This gave a chance for some people to oppose even though it was backed by the Governor and the Mayor. A poll was taken for this decision which said that the majority of people were in favor of the project.

The New York Times published a letter on Friday from a group saying that a majority of people in New York were in support of this project and has been disappointed by the decision to scrap the campus plan.

The list of people who signed the letter included heads of Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Mastercard and JetBlue Airways. Also local leaders and heads of Tennant Association and the president of NAACP New York State Conference.

From an anonymous source, the New York Times reported that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has called Amazon boss Jeff Bezos to try to change his mind about scrapping the campus plan.

Later the Newspaper reported that Amazon has not shown any sign to re-open any conversation regarding the decision to cancel the campus plan.

This has started a debate about corporate subsidies and concerns about how Amazon's decision would the rent of the area.

In addition to Amazon's decision to cancel its campus plan in Long Island City in New York, Amazon has also scaled back its expansion plan in its hometown Seattle.
