Airbus scraps A380 super-jumbo jet as sales slump.

The European Aircraft manufacturer has finally decided to stop the production of its struggling super-jumbo A380, which first took off 12 years ago.

Airbus said that the last deliveries of the aircraft which cost around $25Bn would be made in 2021. The decision to cut off the production was made when its largest customer, Emirates Airlines reduced the demand for the aircraft. Ever since the production of small aircraft from different manufacturers has increased, the A380 never made a profit.
The Airbus A380's future was struggling for the past several years, but in a statement from the manufacturer recently confirmed that the production will stop after they deliver their last order.
As mention above, this decision was made after its largest customer, Emirates Airlines reduced its demand from 162 to 123 fleet size.
Emirates said that they would take the last delivery of 14 A380s and later continue with 70 A330 and A350 model aircraft.
The chairman of Emirates, Sheik Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum said that Emirates has been a strong supporter of A380 since its inception, but it is sad to announce that they cannot continue with the current order.
This has certainly affected the jobs of the people working for the A380 model. Airbus said that they would start discussing with their partners regarding the jobs of 3000-3500 employees, which will be affected in the coming 2-3 years.
A survey from the BBC said that around 200 employees working for Airbus would be affected in the UK.
A relieving statement from Airbus was made saying that a large number of employees would be transferred to other projects in order to reduce the number of jobs affected.
